-- A Great Blue Heron taking flight from a serene mountain lake - June 2006 Here is about the only way I ever get a picture of one of these Great Blue Herons, and that's while it's taking flight away from my camera. But then it's still a beautiful thing to behold, especially at lovely Bowman Lake in Glacier National Park, Montana, just a few miles from Canada. As this elusive creature takes flight it leads our eye into the distant chilly waters of this quiet mountain glacier lake.
