Image of Salzburg Cathedral Dome
-- The first Cathedral at this location was constructed by an Irish abbot and bishop Virgil (746-784). On the same site, Italian architect Santino Solari erected today's church in late renaissance style with baroque influence. The Painting by Arsenio Mascagni of the Resurrection is on the high altar. The left main altar is dedicated to St. Francis and the altar of the Lord's Supper has a valuable tabernacle. Chapel Altars were probably designed by the Italian Giovanni Antonio Dario around 1670.
