-- An East African Crowned Crane eyes me. Found in the eastern african marshes, swamps, and riverlands, this bird is gregarious, beautiful, and the national bird of Uganda. While they are not yet endangered, the Crowned Crane are indeed threatened due to loss of native habitat and poaching, and estimates indicate there are less than 100,000 left in the wild.
