-- Belltower of the flooded St. Nicholas Church in Kalyazin is the main attraction of Kalyazin. This bell tower looks to be on an island, but this island was built to support the tower when it was discovered that water and ice was causing damage. The monastery was built in 1654, most of the old section of Kalyazin was flooded when the Uglich Reservoir was created in the 1940's by damming the Volga River.
