-- The Amazon Milk Frog Trachycephalus resinifictrix formerly Phrynohyas resinifictrix is a large species of arboreal frog native to South America. It is sometimes referred to as the Mission golden-eyed tree frog or blue milk frog. It was first discovered along the Maracana River, in Brazil. Amazon milk frogs are a fairly large frog, attaining sizes of 2.5 to 4 inches in length. They are light grey in color with brown or black banding. As juveniles their patterning is much more contrasting and fades some as they age. Their skin has a slightly bumpy texture to it. Amazon milk frogs inhabit humid rainforest regions. They often inhabit vegetation which extends over permanent, slow moving water sources. Like most other species of frog, Amazon milk frogs are carnivorous. They will consume almost any type of small arthropod they can overpower and swallow.
