WASHINGTON (May 11, 2007)-- The National Geographic Magazine has awarded a $50,000 grant to Eugene Richards. The National Geographic Magazine Grant for Photography is one of the largest grants awarded in photography, and the magazine plans to award this annually.

Awarded to Renée C. Byer of The Sacramento Bee for her intimate portrayal of a single mother and her young son as he loses his battle with cancer.

The annual World Press Photo contest, 2007
The contest is open to all professional press photographers. There is no entry fee. Not only photographers, but photo agencies, newspapers and magazines from anywhere in the world are invited to submit their best news-related pictures of the previous year. Both single images and photo stories are eligible. The closing date for the 2007 contest was 11 January 2007.

IPC Celebrates 23rd Annual Infinity Awards
The 2007 International Exhibition of Fine Art Photography
The Center for Fine Art Photography invites photographers working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought to participate in its exhibitions and activities. Traditional, contemporary, avant-garde, creative and experimental works that include new processes, mixed techniques, and challenging personal, emotional or political statements are welcome.
Submissions due online by July 10th, 2007
Theme: Open…..All subjects eligible
Eligibility: The exhibition is open to all professional and amateur, domestic and international photographers working with digital or traditional photography or combinations of both.
Jurors, from England: The Hon. Roger Reynolds FRPS FBPPA, the immediate past president of The Royal Photographic Society, and Mr. Raymond Spence FRPS Warwickshire College School of Art.

Current members of the IVRPA can enter up to four (4) images in the contest at no cost. For as little as US$25, non-IVRPA members may throw their hat into the ring -- and gain the benefits of entry level membership in the IVRPA to boot!
Contest Judges and their immediate families are not eligible for entry in to the contest; Members of the IVRPA Board of Directors and their immediate families are not eligible for entry in to the Contest, except for the People's Choice awards.

Earth science is all around us. Many aspects of earth science get overlooked in our day-to-day lives - driving down the highway, walking along the street, and even in your own backyard. Earth science includes geology, oceanography, and meteorology, which focus on earth systems, rock and mineral types, natural hazards, weather, water resources, and energy.
