detailed description
: The Church of Christ the Savior was originally built in 1837-1883 to celebrate Russia's victory over Napoleon in 1812, but Stalin tore down the church in order to build another of his skyscrapers, Stalin's skyscraper kept sliding off into the Moscow River and that frighten many people. They thought God had cursed this place because his church was torn down.
In 1995, after Communism died, the people of Moscow raised the money needed to ruild the church exactly as it was before Stalin tore the church down. This is truly a lovely church and a must see site for those visiting Moscow.
