My business partner and I recently picked up a Nikon D300, which will be the "IT" camera for a while since it's just a great apparatus.

2. We have met two kinds of photographers: the ones that believe that a picture should be "good enough" as shot and others that use filters and image manipulation with Photoshop or some other software to get a better/corrected result. Which group do you believe is "right" in regards to the way a photograph is presented?

I disagree with the crowd that believes that photos should be "good enough" as shot. Almost every famous photographer out there who's trying to sell photos manipulates his or her photos to a certain extent, whether it's a filter here or a little dodging and burning there. Even the master, Ansel Adams manipulated his photos, so who am I to argue with that wisdom?

3. Did the introduction of cheap film cameras and nearly cheap digital cameras had a negative business effect to the profession of the professional photographer?

I do believe that the introduction of cheap digital cameras has had a negative impact on photography as a business, but only as a business. Having said that though, there are some amazing photos out there that were taken with nothing but a $150 Point & Shoot.

4. Have you been inspired by any particular artist/photographer?

Much of my inspiration comes from Sebastiao Salgado and as cliche as this is becoming even to me, Ansel Adams.

5. How did you get your start in photography?

I got my first taste of photography at 10 when I got an old Russian camera for my birthday. All of those photos are now lost, but I eventually enrolled in college and pursued my interest in photography.

6. What is one of your favorite places to travel to take photographs?

Tulum and the Yucatan area of Mexico is a favorite. Also, the Pacific Northwest territories of the United States.
